If you’re a member of my Facebook Groups or if you follow this blog, you may have wondered about my personal beliefs from my occasional references to them in my posted content.
I rarely go into detail because it’s not usually relevant, but one of my children recently suggested that I should probably consider expanding a little on what some of my beliefs are, and why — in respect to Autism and related issues — for anyone truly interested.
I’m a staunch advocate of freedom of belief, opinion, speech and choice — subject to reasonable safeguards against abuse and exploitation — and prefer not to voice my personal beliefs unless they’re relevant to the specific discussion.
If you’re genuinely interested in what I believe, and why, you’re welcome to contact me privately to discuss what concerns you. But please understand that I am not interested in debating or defending them. I make no demands that anyone accept my views. It’s up to you: agree or disagree… your choice entirely. Just understand that these are my personal realm, not yours.
I will happily extend to you the same courtesy.
Politics
In terms of party politics, I’m always neutral. As a former “hired-gun” political strategist, consulting to media, PR firms, ad agencies and lobby groups (never directly for political parties or candidates) I’ve played roles in the defeat of both major parties in State elections in Victoria and Ministers from both major parties in federal parliament.
My credo has always been strict compliance with the Law of Common Consent — the most fundamental tenet of public relations* (real public relations, not just publicity)…

*Public relations is about your right to continue doing business within the community in which — and upon which — you operate. The popular view of P.R. is that it’s about publicity and “spinning” perspectives to create the most favourable public perceptions for their political or corporate masters.
In other words, manipulators of public perceptions — and from there, public attitudes and behaviour.
Seriously?
That’s how they think relationships with the public are really built and maintained?
How did this distortion of reality become so prevalent?
It’s a direct result of journalists recognising the potential for more lucrative careers “spinning” the news instead of reporting it. These ex-journalists often become “Media Advisors” (a.k.a “Spin Doctors”) to government ministers and other politicians.
It’s called, disparagingly, Government by Media Release.
And never forget…

“Left” versus “Right”
The whole Left versus Right political paradigm is a cunning distraction from the reality of what’s actually at stake: the eternal battle between equality of opportunity (freedom of choice, thought, belief and expression) and equality of outcome (repression of choice, thought, belief and expression).
These two diagrams sum up my own views, but I’ll expand in more explanatory details as time allows.
