The reason we’ve limited membership to these countries is because support and funding for support vary so widely and the eligibility criteria vary as well. We need to be able to focus on what support resources are available.

Why did we choose The Road to Damascus as our cover image?

Saul of Tarsus was a fierce and widely-feared persecutor of early Christians before his journey to Damascus to persecute Christians in that city. But on his way there, he was met by the resurrected Saviour in a cloud of light that caused him to lose his sight. The Lord told Saul to continue to Damascus, where Ananias, a faithful priesthood holder, was instructed to go to Saul and restore his sight, baptise and confirm him, then teach him.

At that point, Saul became Paul, a valiant and untiring missionary and, eventually, an apostle of Jesus Christ.

Many Aspies find similarities in their own experience of finally being diagnosed: the truth of their neurological divergence is like receiving fresh, new insight into their personal reality… and it can be just as revelatory for them. (It certainly was for me, at age 57, in December 2002.)

As more and more people are diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome, members of the Church are no exception. So we made the decision to extend our services and support to LDS Aspies of all ages in Australia, New Zealand and the islands.
